The Philippines Signs AIT Charter

Ambassador Linglingay F. Lacanlale signs the new Charter of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand on 25 August 2010.

The signing of the new Charter gives AIT the status of an international organization.

Aside from the Philippines, the following countries and international organization likewise signed the charter: Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Japan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, Sweden, Timor-Leste, Seychelles, Thailand, and United Nations Development Fund for Women, East and Southeast Asia (UNIFEM).

AIT was established over 50 years ago in Thailand as a leading Graduate School in the fields of engineering, science, technology, and management, including research and training in support of economic and social development in the region. It is a non-profit, independent, and non-political organization.
