FILIPINO CHORALES GARNER TOP PRIZES IN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION IN THAILAND  

The Sta. Teresita Parish Chorale emerged as the overall champion while the Chiang Kai Shek University Choir was acclaimed the most promising chorale at the “Voyage of Songs” international competition held at the Ambassador City Hotel in Pattaya, Thailand on 12 to 16 July 2007.

The awarding of the top prize to the Philippine contestant was punctuated by the spontaneous singing of the national anthem by the members of all five participating Filipino chorales, who rose from their seats upon announcement of the grand champion on the last night of the festival.  

The five Filipino chorales all received awards.  Listed per category, these are:

Thirty-three choirs from ten countries in Africa, Asia and Europe joined the festival.  

After the competition, the Sta. Teresita Parish Chorale joined the Wattana Chuch Choir, the 2nd Church of Samyan Choir and the Cecilia Chorus of St. Francis Xavier from Thailand in rendering a night of sacred songs in the concert “In One Accord,” organized by the Wattana Church and the Commission on Catholic Sacred Music and held for free at the Wattana Church in Bangkok on 16 July 2007.
